GetHumanOnly ("we", "our", "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Data We Collect
1. Data Stored Locally (Never Leaves Your Device)
The following data is stored only in your browser using Chrome's local storage API:
- Extension Settings: Your preferences (action mode, sensitivity threshold, auto-scan toggle)
- Per-Site Preferences: Sites you've enabled/disabled auto-scan for
- Usage Statistics: Aggregate counts (pages scanned, AI content detected) — stored locally only
This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.
2. Data Sent for Premium Analysis (Optional)
When you use premium AI detection (credit-based scans), the following is sent to our analysis API:
- Text Content: The specific text being analyzed (typically 50-500 words)
- Request Timestamp: When the analysis was requested
- Anonymous User ID: A random identifier for credit tracking (not linked to your identity)
We do NOT send:
- Your browsing history
- URLs you visit
- Any personal information
- Cookies or tracking data
3. Data We Never Collect
- Personal identification information
- Browsing history or habits
- Cookies from websites you visit
- Email addresses (unless you contact support)
- Location data
- Device fingerprinting
How We Use Data
Local Data
- To remember your settings and preferences
- To display your usage statistics in the popup
- To enable per-site customization
Premium Analysis Data
- To perform AI detection analysis
- To cache results (24 hours) to prevent duplicate charges
- To track credit usage for your account
Data Retention
- Local data: Retained until you uninstall the extension or clear browser data
- Premium scan text: Cached for 24 hours, then permanently deleted
- Credit usage records: Retained for billing purposes (anonymous ID only)
Your Rights
You can:
- Access your data: All local data is viewable in browser developer tools
- Delete your data: Uninstall the extension or clear browser data
- Export your data: Settings can be exported via browser sync
- Opt out of premium: Use free heuristic scanning only
Data Security
- All API communications use HTTPS encryption
- We implement industry-standard security practices
- No server-side user accounts or databases for free users
Children's Privacy
GetHumanOnly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
